Tue Sixta Warp Voucnresrs.—An ad- journed meeting of citizens of the Sixth Ward was held at Odd Fellows’ Hail, Navy Yard, last night, for the purpose of organizing a Saal ferce for the protection of the city. A large crow was present The chairman, J. L. Henshaw, Esq , called the meeting to order, and called for the report of the committee appointed at the last meeting to draft suitable resolutions Mr. W_ Garrett, from said committee, submitted a preamble and resolutions, as follows W bereas threats have been made that the Presi- dent elect shall not be inaugurated in this city on the 4th day of March next, and that our city will be made the scene of riot and plander, and the sanctity of our homes invaded; refore be it— Resolved, That we, the citizens of the Fifth and Sixth Wards, feel it to be our duty to aid in the apport of the Laws and Constitution of the United States, and we therefore pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor, te aid in defending our city from any unlawful invasion, from whatever source it may come. Resolved, That all Union-loving and law-abid- ing citizens are cordially invited to join in form- ing a military organization for mutual protection, fo act in concert with similar organizations now being formed in our city. Clubs and stones were freely used, and the fight raged furiously for about a quarter of an hour, much to the annoyance of thos: residing in the nelghborbood, who were gréatly alarmed at the volse occasioned by the ‘-muss.*? One of the colored individuals was particularly furious in his) demonstrations, flourishing a revolver, and threatening to use itupon any one who would jay bands on him. Crutchett, of the Mt. Vernon Cane Factory, have each been presented by the Putnam Phalanx with a beautiful breast- in, elegantly wrought in the form of shiel rom thé wood of the far-famed Charter Oak at Hartford, and inlaid with wood from Mt. Ver- non, in remembrance of the kindness and good feeling of the Infantry towards the Phalanx durin: their late visit to Washington. The wood work of the pins is tastefully set in gold, and in their design and finish they are beautiful and costly, and at the same time appropriate gifts. We recognise somewhere here the work of Mr Stuart, the eloquent Judge Advocate of the Phalanx, who is well kuown proprietor of the Charter Oak Farm, and employs bis leisure moments in whittling out curious and beautiful toys from the wood of the tree above alluded to, every chip of which he converts into a valuable keepsake. Suarp Paisonzr.—Last night, a man was car- tied to the central guard-house ina very boister- ous humor, and it was n to convey him down ina hack, which was somewhat d: in the service. The prisoner was put ina cell, and in tbe course of the night a man who came in for lodging, was put tn with him. This morn- ing, the prisoner being first awake, took his stand at the cell grate, and one of the officials passing by, was hailed by him. Officer inquired who he waa? Prisoner replied that be came in for lodg- ing, and wanted to go Officer released prisoner, and retained lodyer for trial. When the lodger was brought out the magistrate set him down for $3.15 fine and cost, and it was with difficulty the fact was proven that the criminal had escaped, and the person in custody had nocrime to answer for. The lodger was of course dismissed.
