Greater neat- ness is observable than formerly; the areas and spaces are kept more cleanly, and free from lum- ber; old unsightly trees have been cut down, and there is a freshness and spruceness that strikes the visiter agreeably, The principal job now on hand in the machine and boller shops seems to be the machi: for the fine new ler Pensa- cola, which is pow at Norfolk lergoing the process of coppering ; when that is fi she will be brought We to the Washington navy yard to receive her boilers, which are nearly finished. ‘These boilers are worth a visit.
