Warren, of Willington, Connecticut, whe was arrosted in Belchertown, Massachu- sett®, for larceny, and was suspected of mur- rlering his wife in Willington, on the 2d inst,, aad is now in jail*in Northampton, has made full confession. The evidence was pressed so closely upon him that he could no longer evade it. He the body in the brook until the next day, when finding that it doated, he removed it a short distance into the brush, whence on the next Monday. June 6, he removed it to the place where it was found, just within the town of Ellington. There be visited it a number of times. He im- plicates no one but himself. , The confession was made te Sheriff Longley and T. II. Eaton, of Willington. {From the Stafford (Conn.) News Letter Extra.} J.P. Warren is a young man twenty years of age, son of Ziba Warren, of Mansield, Coon ile ran away from home when a boy. and hxs not sustained a very good character since. His wifo was but fifteen years of age when married, and he seventeen. He had been impro rly in- timate with her and her sister, and she had him a rested, with a view of forcing him to have her. Justice Dickinson, of Belchertown, issued the rvarrant, which was served by Sheriff Longley, t midaight, November 6, 1359. The couple lived iu une place and another till Jast Febru- y, when they went to live with Martin Han- cvek, in Wilmingten, about three miles and a balf from Stafford Springs. The Hancock fami- ly consisted of himself, wife and three girls, the two oldest giris being aged fifteen and eighteen. Their names were tatieis end Emily,,and ru- mor among the neighbors aaid he was intimate with the first, and that his wife was jeatous of both of them. Warren was a man of nervous temperament, not over-prey ing in aj - ance, and carrying eith hima cugpicious Yok. His wife was under medium size, with fall bust, rosy checks, dark brown hair, blue eyes, and withel quite pretty. THE INQUEST. About a dozen witnesses testified in the ease, the substance of testimony being that Mrs. Warren left Mr. Hancock's house on Thursday afternoon. June 2, between 3 and 4 o'clock, for the purpose of visiting her husband in a ficld about thirty rods distant, but entirely concealed from view by woods; that she never returned, and Warren said she had not visited him and he had not seen her; that Warren, on the Sat- urdey after the disappearance of his wife, made an excuse to to Stafford to advortise her, bus did no such thing; that on Sunday night bis brother came to see him, and they went away together, ssying that they were going to their father's, in Mansfield, but did not go there; that on Monday he again visited Stafford and remained with his aunt, the widow Balch, till 8 o'clock im the evening, when he hired a horse and of E. P, Met to go to Captain Albro’s, in Willington. two and a half miles; that he did not go there, bat was seen going towards his place of resi- dence by two men, between 9 and 10 o'clock. He did not go there, but the men «saw him re- turn in fifteen or twenty miles, driving very fast. They saw a buffalo robe on his seat when he went down, but it was in the bottom of the buggy when he returned. They called him to stop, but he baie 58, his horse into a run, and passed them without saying a word. On that road her body was found. Warren reached i rd about 12 o'clock and stayed at his *. Mias Emily testi- fied that the girls were in the habit of going into the fields were 4Varren was, to drop corn fer him and sssist him in various ways, and that his wife would sometimes appear to them suddenly from the brush, where she had been watching them Mrs. Reuben Stanton, a Mrs. Aldrich and her son, neighbors of Mr. Hancock testified that Warren had said, in their presence. since his wife disappeared, that ‘he was a fool for marry- ing the--——. for he might have had Lovinia Hanecek; thet she would make him a good second wife, and it was not too late to have her yet.’ Mrs. Aldrich testified that Mrs Warren came fo her house a day or two before she dia- appeared. in great distress of mind, saying that rs. Hancock and Lovinia abused her; that if the went out to be gone a few hours, they would ask her on her return how much she had earned, intimating that she was mean. While she waa relating her troubles, her husband droye by with Emily in the wagon, and she remarked that he would net stop for her so long as the gitl was with him. — «wee, - Four Trovsaxn Hogs ix Dirricenty.—Mr. George Coon's b ns, in Mill-creok bottom, attached to the © hite Mills Distillery, fell with a tremendous cash about 4 o'clock yester- day afternoon, (July 2.) carrying about 4.000 hogs with the wreck. The pens, of courte.were destroyed, some forty or fifty hogs were killed, and nearly a hundred so bruised and maimed that it was necessary to slaughter them The squealing of the hogs while involved in the ruins and fragments of the pens is described as something harrowing—considerably worse then two pigs ander a gate. The distillery hinds rushed to the reacue of the unlucky pork- ers, and extricatedt them as quickly as possible, giving all (hat were uninjured a aweet respite ef liberty, of which a themselves by roaming at large over the valley. During the day a number of persons were employed in col- Jecting the seattered droves, but many were Jost. Some fat, ewill-fellows were overcome by the heat, and were slaughtered. The loss of the sroprietor will amount to several thousand dol- ars. The ms were located near a bluff bank and over a Srain some distance from the distillery, and wereelevated from the bottom of the ditch ome thirty feet.
