Before Justice Donn —Y esterday, two Corpora- tion cases were tried, which are of interest to those engaged in the Auction business. ‘They were haved 2 warrants issued by Justice Thompson of the Fifth District, against C. R. L. Crown. The first charzed him with blockading the side- walk at the intersection of C street and Pennsyl- vania avenue, on the 18th inst. The only witness in this case, swore that if the street was blockaded on that occasion, it was at a different point from that indicated in the warrant; the goods of the anctioneer being on the corner of Louisiana ave- nue and C street. The other case was a charge in the following language: +The said C. R. L. Crown on the ith day of Jnne, 1559. and divers other days, did sell oods, wares, and merchandise at, and in the Fitin Distric t, without having first obtained a license to do so from the City Register.’ The defendant prodaced his license, in which his siace of business is located in the Fourth Ward jut the law under which the license is su to be issued, says nothing about a definite locality in any Ward or District. The decision of the Justice has not becn rendered. The question in the last case is: “TIas the Register the nght under the law, to issue such a license defloing any dis- trict in which an auctioneer shall sell?*” Before Justice Williams.—Timothy Minor was aceused of saying ungallant words in the presen :e of a young lady, and threatening a whole fami! with unheard-of terrors. He was put under secu- rity to keep the peace for six months for his belli- cose threats, and fined $3.16 for the ungallant words, and left the police office rather taken down by this suunmary application of the law. 1. B. Lvans used profane words to Mr. Schaffer, and then of his rasbness; in consideration of which act of penance he was only fined 81 55. Jos. Gerhardt, a lager-beer dealer, was accused of se}ting spirituous liquors and malt beverages on the ‘Sabbath day. He was fined #25 and costs. Mr. Ben F. Tux Stevsex Moxument.—A meeting of dele gates from the several Steuben Associations of the country has been called for the first day of July next, in New York city. The Washington Stenben Associa- tion held a mecting, as we understand, last night, in which delegates were araace to attend the convention, and who are instructed to present to said convention certain propositions in connection with the proposed Steuben Monument. One proposition is that the money already collected never be ne toany other use thac that originally designed. Another is to urge upon the convention the eminent propriety of selecting the city of Washington as the site for the proj monument. Mauy and good reasons are gned for this Lene warepre which will doubtless have their weight in the convention. Washington, think the delegates, is the only proper ground whereon to erect this testimonial of a nation’s gratitude to the heroic Steuben. Here, they say, are placed monuments to Wash- es Jefferson, Jackson. and other compatriots of Revolution, and here should be placed, as Worthy of the position, the Steuben Monument. The delegates are also instructed to urge acall to the Germans and others of those cities which have not vet held Steuben festivals upon the propriety of doing so as seon as convenient. We nnder- stand that Mr. Frederick Schmidt, formerly editor of the National Demokrat, in this city, and Mr Killian, the pbonographer of the agricultural bureau of the Patent Office Depertment, were selected as the delegates. A Marrtace took place yesterday afternoon in Wesley Chapel, corner of Fifth and F sts. Long before the hour designated for the important event, every seat was filled, and many persons bad to stand for waut of such accommodations. ‘The happy pair were the Rev. T.
