THE LOST MAN FOUND. A Strange and Affecting Tale. A few bar sinee, as our readers will remem ber, we noticed the sudden disappearance, in a temporary derangement of mind, of Mr. Wm. A. Hall, a well-known cotton broker of Mobile. All will be gratified to learn that the lost nan has been found, and. after one of the strangest episodes of human life. is now alive and appa- rently restored to reason, among his friends again. The Mercury thus relates the facts, stranger than fiction: About 6 o'clock Sunday morning, Mr. Hall came to a house in the neigbborh of the dry dock. occupied by persons who were acquaiui- ed with him. He was in a sad plight, and could with difficulty drag himself slong. His clothes were sviled with mud and torn by brush and bramble. His boots were also bursted, and his hat—a new one when he weut awuy—- battered and bruised. His face and hands ategpre aud swollen from exposure, and the bite f mosquitoes. The people of the house him in and eared for him kindly. Some ulunts were administered and some food, aud comfortable bed placed at his disposal, and word sent to his frients. Mr. Hall hax been absent eloven days, during which lime he has probably not tasted food. He has probably been all the time in the swamp South of the city somewhere between the dry dock and the light house. Yesterday morning he was quite rational, aad could give lu this a-count of himself: He had been sick, and came into town on the #d inst., to transact sume business. That night he slept in his office. und got up the next morning feeling badly, but went out to attend to the business he had on hand. The last he remembers he was on the corner near Cox, Brainard & Co.’s office, when he was attacked with dizziness and blindness. Then it seemed that something was after him to hurt him, and he ran down Front street towards Mathew's Press, since which he remembers nothing until he seemed to wake up, as from a sleep, yester- day morning about sunrise. When he came to consciousness, he found bimself lying in a swamp, without having any knowledge of where he was. In trying to find hia way out. he came into the road that runs through the swamp from the dry-dock to the bay shore be- low the light-house; and so came out to the house we have designated. Me had no notion of the length of time he had been thus uncon- seious. He asked the day of the month and upon being told, was first made aware of it. The advertisement his friends had put in the papers was shown him, which he read with deep emotion and tearful ey [t is a wonderful providence that Mr. Hall has survived throughout these gloomy eleven ogues’ Gallery.” Mr. Frank G.
