Mr. Miller now moved that the nomination be referred to the asylum committee. He stated his | reasons fur the motion at some length. He had every confidence in the gentleman whose name ad been sent in to the Board by the Mayor, and would as soon see him in that place as any other member of the faculty; but there was a principle involved in this n nation which the Board ought to consider. The Mayor had seen fit to make the nomination in opposition to the wishes ef the éntire community. There was two schools < medicine in this city. one of which was the National Medical Coll and the other was the Georgetown College. hese two schools were and always had been antagonistic, and the speaker thought the Mayor hed done wrong in nominating @ professor from one of these colleges, knowing in so doing he would he prejudicing the ether.
