Ail appeared to be satisfied, but a young man who had at several Meetings propounded ques- tions foretyn to the subject, rose and asked the following: “How can an’ immutable God be aifected by prayer?’ So we understood him, but poses we are wrong; for when asked by the lecturer to oe his question, he appeared to understand himself as iittle as any one around; but, he was answered, and he seeined satisfied until be was asked if he had any other ques- tion’ He rose again upon a quibble about the Christian ‘immutable God,”’ choosing, to in- sist upon defining it for the Christians rather than to take their definition. Perbaps one hundred persons were en costume, most of them masked early in the evening; the masks being thrown aside as the hilarity of the occa- sion warmed up the blood in the veins of the young folks wearing them. Among them we Tecognised many whose exqulsite appreciation of thelr respective roles kepi the company (out of cosinme) in a roar of laughter on this occas! n, as when performing other such parts a year ago. We regret that the crowded state of the Star's columns forbids us to elaborate a description of this so characteristic entertainment, which to be appreciated must necessarily have been enjoyed in person. Warcn Returxs.—Catharine O'Driscoll was arrested for a violent assault and battery on her husband, Timothy O'Driscoll, using a weapon more efficacious than the ‘unruly member,” the usual offensive weapon of scolding Wives, in the shape of a poker. One oF the most promising entertainments set down for this evening is the concert of the Wes- ley Chapel choir at their church, on the corner of Fifth and F streets. This concert is not only attractive on account of the good music that may he expected, but by reason of the beauty and in- telligence that constitute a aime portion of the choir and congregation.
