Correspondence of ‘The Star. j Gronertown, Jan. 28, 1859. ‘The Democratic ratification Meeting at For- rést Hall, last night, notwithstanding the very inclement condition of the weather, was large and enthusiastic. John L Kidwell, Esq, was called tothe chair, and Edward Krouse point. ed secretary. After briefly stating the ob; of the meeting, the chair first introduced to the au- dience Fred. W. Jones, Esq, of oarcity Mr. Crawford, of Pennsylyvania, followed j and then Mr Norris, of ‘eed city. During bis remarks he opened his ryupon Mr. Addison, and 30 bn upon him grape and canister to a consid- eral extent, to the great amusement of the entire audience. He ebarged him with having been, two years ago, the standard bearer, the head and front of the American party, and won- dered what bad produced so it a change in soshortatime. He now declared himself of no Party, sect, clique, caucus, or cabal; and, if elected Mayor of Georgetown, be (Mr. Norris) would like to know where be would be found R.R. We learn that the residence of Mr. Elliott, who resides just outside of the cerporation limits, on the north side of our city, was revbed on Wed- nesday evening of a large number of valuable ar- ticles. It appears that the family had gone to Washington to attend a party, and during their absence the thief or thieves went to the premises with a cart, and carried off a considerable quan lity of different kinds of furniture, consisting of beds, bedding, &e. The vehicle in whieh the goods were cairied off was tracked to Rock Creek. After reaching it, the Villains, it appears, con- fined their exit as far sible to the bed of the creek, causing all further signs of their route to be lost Justice Reaver yesterday issued a warrant for the arrest of Patrick Farretl, of ‘Tenallytown, charged with shooting Daniel Wortman. ‘The warrant was placed in the hands of Const ble ‘Tronnell for bis arrest. Several sbot, we learn, took eff-ct upon Wortman, none of whieb, Low ever, done any very serious damage.
