T. Dove, Exq , in the chair. A communication was read from the Mayor announcing bis baving signed certain acts. Mr. Smith presented the Petition of Benedict Milburn, praying that a porch recently erected by him in front of a house on Maine venue, which prejects upon the sidewalk more than the law allows, may be permitted to remain, with the consent of the neighbors; which was referred to the committee on im; its. It seems that a wariant was issued by the justice aforementioned against an Irishman, for selling liquor on Sunday, and under it judgement was fendered for $20 and costx. ‘The caxe was ap- pealed to the Circuit Court, who reversed the indgement on the showing of the appellants council (bat the warrant was not properly worded. The County Court opened its November term yesterday morning, but transacted no business of Public interest. This morning, with tbe reopen- ing of the Court, it is expected that the exami- nation of James Parsons, charged with setting fire to Masters’ warehouse a few weeks since, will take place. The fairs at the Village and at American Hall were both open lastevening, and were very well attended. At American Hall, especially, a large number of ladies and gentlemen spent a most pleasant evening Yesterday morning, about 9 o’clock, an alarm of tire called out the fire companies. ‘The alarm was caused by the burning of a frame stable in the rear of the residence of Miss Sarah Griffith, No 235 King street, near Patrick street. The ef- forts of the firemen availed to save the building, but the contents of the stable were either dam- agedordestroyed. After the fire seve:al fights oceurred. Some of the parties were arrested and bound over to keep the peace.
