Awrct Deatu —This morning, a laborer, named Cornelius Foley, wes suddenly seized with insanity and commenced running abont the streets, in the northern part of the Fourth Ward, and attacking persons with bricks and xtones. fle was so furious that the citizens feared to take him. Officer Watson went to him, and, by speaking roug by to him, made him put down the weapous 1% ad, and with which he had at- tacked others With the assistance of two of Foley's friends. who were trying to secure him, the officer got him as far as G and Fifth streets, where he went into violent conrulsions. A hand cart was obtained, and the unfortunate man was conveyed to the Infirmary, where he died in balf an hour after his arrival. ‘It is supposed that his insanity and death was caused by intemperance and exposure. Too Gocp Looxinc.—Last night a couple of colored ladies from Alexandria visited this city for the purpose of attending adance. They passed their time merrily enough until one of them was so unfortunate as to display her charms to the disadvantage of a colored damsel of Wash- ington, who thereby lost ber bean. The anp- planted damsel could not stand her loss without revenge, and gave information tothe Guards that the «Virginay niggers was up here widout p and they ought to be tuck up” ‘They were “teck up” to the Guard-house, and admitted the charge The Captain, however, finding tha’ they were free, and always been considered as quiet, orderly persons, permitted them to de- part forthwith for Virginia.
