One of these costumes is a dinner dress of great taffeias, With tvo skirts; the upper one is trimmed with a large bouillon of satin of the same color, edged with narrow biack lace, and ending in a flounce of Chantilly lace. The skirt is open at the sides, and trimmed at the openings with several bows of satin ribbon. The low corsage is pointed befure. red behind, and is trimmed round the top with a wide bouillon of satin. headed by a smaller one of tulle, in which ia placed a uarrow black velvet. The berthe is desorated with a lace like the flounce. The very short sleeves are trimmed with double bouillons of very full tulle. A second is of mauve taffetas, the ounces of broohes in black, scalloped, and trimmed with ruches of taffetas. The low square body has at the waist six points—one at front, another behind, and two oneach hip. The sleeves are formed by two very full trills; with this robe, a guim of em- broidered Swiss muslin is worn. A tulle ball dress has four skirts, each edged with a broad pale blue satin ribbon. Over the short sleeves are very long Venetian sleeves of tulle, edged with biue to match the skirts; the folded body and short sleeves are trimmed with bows of blue ribbon. The head dress to accompany this toilette is of two large tuftsof blue and white flowers, placed far back, and united by a plait of blue velvet across the front, studded with small diamonds Indian muslins spotted with gold composes a beautiful ball dress; with it the most becoming ornament is # coral parure. and for the coiffare, bows of lace with gold and sprigs of coral. The dengerie now ia fashion 1s of a plainer description than that worn last winter; the ma- terial 1s generally thick or thin muslin, with a plain wristband. Many plain dark silks are made with two skirts, both having a deep hem; for wore dressy occasions the upper skirt is fini-hed with a deep band of velvet, or with a very heavy fringe.
