The exhibition of this national society, which will be held near this city on Monday, August 31, inst., will far surpass in interest all the exhi- bitions the country has yet witnessed. The dis- piay of cattle and horses will be unparalleled, pa Po all the other departments the show will be the most attractive one that has yet been held by the National Society. The mode of exhibition at this fair will be altogether ditferent from that which has prevailed at the former exhibition of the society. Ditferent classes of stock and horses will be shown for competition each day in the spacious and splendid amphitheatre. The floral ball will be well stocked with the choicest col- lections of fruits and flowers. The gallery of fine arts will contain a number of specimens of paintings and =e by the most celebrated artists, among which will bea life-size “Sabina,” and probably the original Powers’ “ Greek Slave.’ The manufacturers’ hall will present a fine display of manufactured articles, and the machine hal! will be filled with engines and ma- ebines of all description in operation. Nothing so complete has ever been opened for the public in this en and no effort has been omitted to make the exhibition unequalled in attractions. The Ley sare may set forth distict sums for the letter and for the other mails, or a combined one for the entire service. 2. No pay will be made for trips not performed ; and for each of such omissions not satisfactorily ex pisined three times the pay of the trip may be de- ducted. For arrivals so far behind time as to break connexion with depending mails,and not sufficiently exeused, one-fourth of the compensation for the trip is subject to forfeiture. 3. For leaving behind or throwmg off the mails, or any portion of them, for the admission of passengers, or for being concerned in setting up or running an ex- ess Coureying inteliizence in advance of the mail, & quarter’s pay may be deducted. 4. The Postmaster Generai may annul the contract for repeated failures to run agreeably to contract; for violating the post ofice laws, or disobeying the in- structions of the Department: for refusing to dis- charge a carrier when required by the Department to do so; for assigning the contract withent the assent of the Postmaster General; for running &n express as aforesaid; or for tranxport: Persons or conveying matlable matter out of the mail. 5.
