According to facts presented by the Portiand Advertiser, iron propellers are far cheaper and more pro- fitable than wooden clipper ships, in the long run. The former cost twice as much as the latter originally. They make the Liverpoo! voyage in twelve days, while the latter require from thirty to forty days. The latter last but an average of ten years; while not one iron ship so far constructed has been condemned hy the underwriters, though some of them have been iu service for twenty-five years.
