Hill against the Evie County Medical Society, to compel it to restore him to the enjoyment of | his privileges asa member of the society, from which be had been expelled because of an il infraction of the tariffof prices adopted by the society. That infraction consisted. as was claim- ed by the defendent, in taking of office of Phys: elanto the Almshouse of Erie county for a less sum than the minimum price fixed by the tariff. The following are the conclusions of the Court: !. The regulation [the turitf of price] in ques- tion was unauthorized. It was unreasonable. it was against public policy and law. 4. Se Mepicat Spinitvaism. a late number of the Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, there is @ very interesting paper by Dr. Walter Channing on Medical La palpeiens in which the writer re- cords a notable instance of tie attainments of “medical mediums,’ one of whose exhibitions he attended. The medical medium had in con- sultation three distinguished doctors whom he had called from the spirit sphere. A few ques- tions re to the medium as to what he saw in the organism of the patient effectually exposed his utter ignorance of anatomy and the little aid the spirits atforded him in making up the deficiency. After some further conversation, the medium was requested to ask Dr. ——, one of the medical ghosts in consultation, what he thought of the “hour-glass contraction’’—a very dangerous con- dition sometimes induced after child-birth—but not, by its name, suggesting to an unprofessional rson any idea of its real character. The me- jum pondered some time upon the question, in order apparently to make sure of the departed doctor's present opinion. and then said, ‘‘Doctor —— thinks hour-ylass contractions a very good thing, and should certaiuly recommend it.” Dis niee nSe eISTE iD™ The Havana Diario mentions the conver- sion of six Chinese coolies to Christianity (2~ The Dutch minister of finance has decided that daguerreotypists and Photographists are not to be considered artists, and that consequently they are to pay the tax for patentees, or licenses to trade Tur Wsiont oF Comets.—M.
