He has se- cured the Washington Assembly Rooms, and is roceeding with the usual energy which charac- rizes his undertakings to make his arrange- ments—no slight task indeed when the great num- ber of performers (infantile) and the elaborate and complicated nature of the dances are taken into consideration. Since his memorable May ball at the National Theatre (atruly brilliant affair with- in the vivid recollection of all who were present) Prof. Munder has kept the field in a series of suc- cessful annual festivals of this nature, each year introduciug new and beautiful features, thus yiv- ing most attractive variety and freshness to these entertainments, and occasioning them to be look- ed forward to with Tanticipation. The sight of so many beautiful children, dressed in cheerful colors appropriate to the merry month of May, is in itself a scene sufficiently enchanting to most beholders, to say nothing of the indescribable ex- hilaration we all feel in watching the graceful movements of the tiny host through the mazes of the dance. ff Munder as a teacher we have already given our opinion, and will only add that his commen- dation is best told in the proficiency shown by his pupiis at his May Balls. A reference to his ad- vertisement in another column will show what he designs to do on Friday night. Tux Rivex.—This morning the appearance of the river was somewhat more animated that yes- terday. Gaaxn Larcesy —Yesterday afternoon, OfficeT Kemble arrested Mrs. C. A Simpson on charge of grand larceny. It seems that Mrs. S. was in the habit of visiting Miss C_. who keeps or has kept a mantus-making establishment on Pennsyl- vania avenue, and that they were on terms of in- timacy. Some time ago Miss C. missed a vala- able cape. and could nnd no trace of it. Yesterday she met Mrs. S. on the street, and in passing she discovered the cape on the person of Mrs. S> and instantly identifying it demanded that it be de- livered up. Mrs. S- denied the right of Miss C fo take it. and claimed that it was her own prop- erty. Mrs. C. then sent foran officer, who arrest- ed Mrs. S. and took her before Justice Daniel “inith who, on hearing the case, held her to @300 bail to appear at next term of Criminal Court to auswer the charge of grand larceny. In default of the prisouer finding the required bail Mr. Smith signed au order for her commitment to jail, and she was accordingly sent over. ‘The prisoner stoutly denied having stolen the cape; said that she purchased it of some merchant on Peunsylva- nia avenue, but cannot tell who.
