The civic and military display promises to be on a scale of magnificence unrivalled by anything of the kind which has ever preceded it Two of the most besutifal and attractive features of the ion will areas be the Lib- ert: Bole and the full-rigged Ship, which, under the direction supervision of the gallant Rainbow, have been gotten up with so much skill and taste by the patriotic me- chanics at the Navy Yard, and which, as blems of national se and Ltdeded have been a riately assig: conspicuous positions ie The published programme of the Chief Mar- shal splendid The starry emblem of the free—a Flag, thirty feet in length—will float from the summit of the Liberty Pole, at a height of seventy feet; and the car supporting it. be- sides, being handsomely festooned wi flag: evergreen and flowers, will be embeliiaied with various figures and devices, emblematic of Wisdom, Justice, Peace, War, Mechanism, the Fine Arts, Commerce, Agriculture, Civili- zation, and the Aborigine, the whcle cur- mounted wita a glowing representation of the Genius of America On one of the panels of this magnificent car—that adorned with the figure of Mechanism—will be emblazoned the trathfal and noble sentiment of the President elect, that “ Labor is the foundation of the wealth of every country.” The whole will constitute the most beautiful and majestic ornament ever seen in a procession at the na- tionai metropolis. The paintings on this splendid car were executed by our artistic friend Lamb, formerly soenc-painter at the National Theatre. Of the miniature ship we may not speak, as most of our readers saw and admired it in the recent public demonstration in honor of the election of Buchanan and Breckinridge. But we may remark that, having been thoroughly refitted in armament and rigging, and her bull improved by the addition of a new cut- water and stern, thus presenting, in every part, the graceful appearance of a ship of war, she will not only excite the admiration of the masses, but win the praises of nautical con- Doisseurs These two orpaments 60 creditable to the patriotic zeal and mechanisal skill of oar navy yard friends, will add much to the randuer and enthusiasm of the inaugural alae. ~They are peculiarly appropriate in a great national ceremony, representing, az they do, the civil and naval power of the country, while the army will be fully represented on the same occasion by the citi- zen soldiery and the fiying artillery from Fort McHenry, Each of those triumphs of mechanical go- nius will be drawn by six beautiful horses, richly caparisoned, and furnished by Vander werken, in whose vocabulary thero is no such word as fail Tae Weataen.—Kange of the thermometer from Thursday noon, Feb 19, to this morning : Morning.
