Mr. Riggs, from finance committee, present- ed a resolation of inquiry addressed to the Collector of Taxes, in relation to the adver- tising of taxes, 4c; which resolution was John W. Rey- Fifth, and Jose were rejected. Northern market. r Riggs, from same committee, reported a bill appropriating $200 for defraying con- tingent expenses of auxiliary guard; passed. Mr. Busey, trom police committee. a resolution for the relief of John Council bill authorizing the footway to be paved on the north front of market square, was referred to improvements committee. Mr. Busey moved to reconsider the bill granting permission to N. Acker and others to oceupy a portion of the sidewalk on North Capitol street; which was done, and the bill referred to improvements committee. Mr Smith oifered a resolution changing the office hours of assessors in the Seventh Ward, in correcting the poll lists, from 10 a. m. to 3 . m.. as at present, to from 1 Mr. Smith explained that the object of his resolution was to afford facilities to citisens of the Ward who could not conveniently attend .m, to 6 p.m. The question was debated by Messre. Dove, Busey, and others, who opposed the resolution, and it was finally rejectea. Mr. Miller, from health committee, reported a bill regulating the sale of poisous; ordered te be printed. Mr. Evans introduced a bill appropriating $200 te remunerate George H Jones and Jas.
