EVENING STAR. THOUGHT3 ON GETTING HIGH.* BY HORACE FLY. Sometimes called HonsE-Fly by the boys. If { should fly Up ever sp high, { wonder if 1 Would ever come down again ”? Released from care, % Way up in the air, = M Ceuaies there * Would be biue, and not ‘‘brown”’ again. 1am only a Fly, The 4th son of my Mother and I. Saac Fly, who died years ago; He took cold quite easy, And bis lungs got wheezy, But his last words will please ye— He dried upssying ‘‘Here’s a go!”? Then went Senior Fly Up into the sky; He never said die, But he went and executed it; Upon the same plan He played the sportsman— When a bird he did scan, He didn’t shout but he shooted it. Thus did my dad; But whens he got med He behaved very bad, For the Old Scratch got into him; Still, he was usually good natured And regular featured, ‘So that ny female creature’d Incline up to shin to him. Having drinked life’s cup To the very last sup, He immediately went up, And I conclude is contented there; For I don’t think he’d stay Where he felt ‘‘in the way”— As he would if bis day Down here was repented there £m a chip of his block. Of the genuine Fay steck, So if I -hould flock Up Into the firmament, { think I’d remain, And not wriggle with pain Here; (let me explain, Not wriggle, but squirm, I meant. But I cannot flock up, So let me lock up; It’s of no use crying, When we can’t do anything about it; 1 wish ’t I was rich, And my mother was sich; But no! So we’re prying To do as weil as we can wichout it. *This pf¥em must be read gli> else it will grit. a AXBIVALS AT PRINCIPAL HOTELS Willards’ Hetel—7.¢ & m.4. wiLbas> H Somerville, NY BF Hil 6 J Mowbrey, do O Sprigg, Md H L Appold, Me Mr Pringle & ly, SC © Coales & ly, NY Miss Pringle, do W G Pendergrast, Ga 2 Masters .’ringle, do J Odfield, Pa B Blood & ly, Tenn A H Cariss, do F P Webber, USN R P Rupp, Ark W Schrider, Cuba JM Voss & ly, K Dexter & fy, O Mast J Voss, do Mrs Pecser & dau, Mass W _ W Stow, Pa HM Wilson, ly & son, J E Escaville, Md Va W Purvis & ly, Mass TC Josb, gp T J Fulton, Ala EH Wright, NJ H R Teakle W F Rist, NY $ Pollard.
