Booxs sy tng Pourp.—The Chinese book- sellers have an odd way of selling their vol- umes. They are disposed of, not according to their value, at a fixed price, but according to weight. If on weighing them they are too light, the seller cooily tears somo leaves from another book and throws them into the scale ! They arc many books published in this coun- try that are Aeary enough to besold by weight. Even some volumes of our /ight literature might come under this category. & > Mr. Nelson Robinson, the New York broker, who diedso suddenly a few days since, had often beon warnod by his medical atten- " hy A . 5 Land Warrants located In lowa, Wisconsin, or dant that the continued excitement of busi- | yjinnesota. SOMETHING WORTH KNOWING !—By using Professor Wood’s Hair Restorative. hair can be permanently restored to its original color. The subjoined certificate was ved from Johnson & Stone, Gardner, Me , and is but one of ¢he many instances that are daily comin; to our knowledge of its wonderful effects. It is no lo: ger problematical, but a self-evident truth, as hundreds of our community can testify.—Bos- ton Herald, Garpner, Me, June 22, 1852. Mr. H. Dyzs—Dear Sir: I have used two bot- tles of Prof. Wood’s Hair Restorative, and can truly say It is the greatest discovery of the age for restoring and changing the Hair. Before usin: it I was a man of seventy. My hair has now at tained its original color. You can recommend it to the world without the least fear, as my case was one of the worst kind Yours respectfully, DAN’L N. MURPHY CaRLyLe, IIl.,Sune 27, 1853. I have used Prof 0 J. Wood's Hair Restora. tive, and have admired its wonderful effect. My hair was becoming, as 1 thought, prematurely gray; but by the use of the ‘‘ Restorative” it has resumed its original color, and, I have no doubt, permanently so, SIDNEY BREESE, Ex-Senator United States. HAIR RESTORATIVE day will be found Prof. Wood’ vertisement of the abov i to which we call attention. Whet it has done, we have witnessed upon sev- eral of owracquaintanees in St. Louis. air once gray met our view, black or brown as the case might be, being the color of early manhood ; and as fineand glossy as silk, and that without any other application than the Restorative. If it has done this upon others, will it not do the same for any of our readers whose ‘‘frosty prows’? were once iike the ‘‘ raven locks’’ of Lothiel’s warlike chief, if they will try it. We think so.—Jackson ville Constitutional, Oct. 5, 1853. THE GRBATEST DISCOVERY OF THE AGE —It seldom occurs that we notice, under any eircumstinces, patent medicines, restora tives, or anything of the kind, for we have a pre- judice against most of them. But eandor com- pee us to invite attention to the advertisement ef 1ofessor Wood's Hair Restorative. We are too j 0 require anything of the kind, butsome of its use have come to our knowledge which almost assures us that it is a sovereign remedy against the hair becoming prematurely gray. Itis not a ‘‘ Hatr Dye,’ but upon its ap- plication, as directed, the effect is produced upon the skin, whieh brings ovt the original colored hair, without stiffness, and gives !t a glossy and natural a) nce. We have seen persons whe have osed. it. and are much pleased with it Kx amine the adyertisement — Misseurs Republican O. J.
