The grace- ful manner in which the main subjest was introduced by the allusions made to Rome and Athens and in the incipient history of the Christian religion as compared with the glim- and uncertain lights of ancient philo- sophy, seemed to give universal satisfaction, . andenabled the orator to array an interest around the sacred city and its temples, 4c , which appeared to sink deep into the hearts of his Christian auditors to be remembered Tr. ‘The ceremonies were enlivened by the music of Mr, Fleets’ Band, and the handsome tables filled with refreshments and ornamental and useful articles exposed to sale, served by the bright-eyed ladies behind them. were really beautiful as well as comfortable.
