After the election, a discussion arose upon @ resolution ofored y Mr. Holcombe, of Del- aware, denouncing the Teciprocity treaty as injarious to the agrizul'urists of the republic. Messrs. Hulcombe, Peck of Md., King of N. Y¥ , Jones of Del., and others participated in the discussion. 4 large number of members. by invitation, paid visit to the Metropolitan Fair this rosie oF _ They expressed themselves highly pl with the various novelties on exhibi- tion, as well as the courtesy of the committee of mana, ct. This evening they pay a visit to the observatory. Tae Circus 1 Tue Theatre —A large and highly delighted sudience greeted Myers and Madigan’s Equestrian Troupe last evening at their opening performances in the National Theatre, a fair share of those present being very fashionable people indeed Their per- formances were received with continued rounds spplanse. each act or scene “ bringing down Houss.”” We hardly know where to com- mence in particularizing the points of the evening's entortainment that were most strik- ing. However, Mile. Rosa, we may surely say, gave the audience as much delight as any female equestrian who has ever perf»rmed in this ci The chief attraction of her riding is ber inimitable grace, all her motions being 8s besutifal as it is possible to imagine The posturing act of M. Carlo and h was distinguished by its really athletic points; and so was the leap- ing act of the company, the agility of Myers warpassing that of any other vaulter we ever saw. We must not forget to mention the hurdle riding act of M. La Rue, which was replete with astonishing feats, as was repeat edly testified by the clapping and shouting of all who witnessed their execution The entire success of their opening night is a guarantee that their proposed short season here will be a brilliant and profitable one indeed. Haxps on your Pocker-Booxs.—We un- that, within the last few weeks, sey- eral e had their pockets picked in the market-house, and, in all cases, boys have been suspected of the theft. The last case wag of a lady of this city who, a few days agp, was walking lelsarely along, when a boy, about fourteen years old, rudeiy j ushed against her; she turned to remonstraie, but the boy ran “like all d.”” She thought of her ree, but lo! it was missing She immediate- y said, ‘that boy has takea my purse;”’ and another little fellow says, “has he?—I'll esteh him, the and away he went, follow ed by another. As we have heretofore spoken favorably of the rendition of charac- ter by these children, having witnessed them in their different pieces, we can promise all attend a rich treat. The afternoon en- tertainment offers a fine opportunity for ju- veniles and others to attend, and we have no doubt but that the saloon will be crowded. Tae Paitearsoric’s Concert —The pro. —_— for this concert, which takes place on wesday evening next at Carusi's Saloon, is made up of a selection which must attract all the lovers of classic music. Rossini, Bellini, Verdi, Zingarilla, Bishop, dc, &e . will be beard in some their firest compositions Mra Franklin will sing the Mock ing Bird song by Bishop, with obligato fate 2ecompa- niment by Mr. Schutter; and Mrs. Burns will sing “Non tu Sogno,” From I Lombardy. Other members of the Scciety will also give some of the most admired music of the day. Mxtuopist Proresrant Sansare Scaoot.— This Sabbath School bas lately taken a new start. At its last elec ion of cfficers, young men were elected, from the Superintendent to the Librarian. They have infused new life inte the school. As the library was rather antiquated, they raised and expended $50 in the purchase of new books, papers, &c., and the school has riace been increasing rapidly. Success to them. A Picxpocket —Last evening, one of these light fingered gentry was arrested at the en- trance of the National Theatre, on suspicion of having taking a port mornaie from the pocket of Mfr J Anderson. Though it was not found on his person, Mr. A. is positive as to his having abstracted it. It is supposed be ccomplice in crowd to whom it was pasod. A hearicg will be had before Justice Ciurk, at four o'clock this afternoon. The supposed thief is a youth about nineteen years of age. He bsils trom Baltimore, and says bis name is Adaws.
