parry American Negro Labor Congress Calls H Harlem Meetis Vo oting oe re WILL DENOUNCE MURDER OF TWO IN MISSISSIPPI Many Good Speakers to Address Workers The Harlem Local of the Amer- ican Negro Labor Congress has is- sued a call for a mass meeting of Negro and white workers for Thurs- day evening, January 10, at St. Luke’s Hall, 125 W, 130th St. The meeting is called for the purpose of protesting the brutal lynchings of two Negro workers which oc- curred a few days ago in the state of Mississippi. At this meeting the A. N. L. C. rill make public its plan of pro- acting Negro workers against these barbarities by means of workers’ inter-racial defense committees, ete, Against Police Brutality. At the meeting energetic _ pro- test will be made not only against the Mississippi lynchings, ‘but against the wave of police brutal- ity against Negro workers which has shown itself in cities like Chi-| cago, where # 16-year-old Negro) youth was ricdled by 200 police-| men armed with machine guns, gas | bombs and other paraphernalia of | war, The Harlem meeting comes short- ly after the cynical approval by | Governor Bilba of the lynchings, when he stated to the press that he had “neither time nor money” to investigate any lynching in which 2,000 people had participated. Bilba’s Class Lynchers. For Governor Bilba of Missis- | sippi, 2,000 lynchers means 2,000 plantation owners and small town business men. It means the ruling class of the state, if we remember that’the big business interests of the cities are ready and wélling for lynehings to be committed, in order to keep alive the divisions between Negro and white workers by this, s wutal stimulation of race lice. But for the Negro workers, 2,000 lynchers means 2,000 exploiters of both white and Negro si against which both white and N egro work- evs must fight. Gocd Speakers. preju- All are invited to the meeting, | Thursday evening, 125 W. 130th St. The meeting will be addressed by the following speakers: Robert Minor, editor Daily Worker; Wil- liana J, Burroughs, of the Browns- ville Lecal, A.
