All Party forces will be mobilized to make this a success. Trade unions, other individual workers, will be can- vassed to build up our one central- ized relief organization. William Weinstone, district organizer of the Workers (Communist) Party, has sent out a call to all units to send a committee to the meeting at La- bor Temple tomorrow to prepare to make these Tag Days suctessful both in raising funds for continued relief work in the textile and min- ing fields and in building up the membership. All those who have been ap- pointed by their units as represen- tatives, and all interested workers who can help in this important and necessary work, will attend the * meeting to make final arrangements for the drive. Foster, candidate for president of the Workers (Communist) Party, with the greatest interest here Sat- urday. Held in the huge Music Halk the meeting was preceded by a parade with placards demanding “Down With Child Labor,” “Fight the Im- perialist War,” etc. These are vital issues in Congecticut, where tens of thousands of child workers, from eight to ten years of age are ter- ribly exploited in the factories. Here in New Haven is also the center of ammunition manufacture, the Winchester Arms, for example, has been increasing production of shells and ammunition rapidly the last six months. This brings home the danger of war to the workers of New Haven. Foster was greeted at the meet- ing with ah ovation lasting several minutes. In his speech he gave a brilliant analysis of the republican and democratic parties, the boss parties, and the socialist party, the straw-boss party. He showed how the gocialist par- ty has aided the blackest reaction- ary elements in the labor movement .and aids to preserve the present capitalist system. He proved that only the Communist Party fights capitalism on all fronts. ret ee | Speaks in Hartford. HARTFORD, Conn., (By Mail).— William %. Foster, candidate for president of the Workers (Commu- nist) Party, spoke before a crowd of about 800 workers in Unity Hall here. This was one of the largest and most enthusiastic meetings held here during an election campaign. The audience was overwhelmingly of a working class character, and responded : enthusiastically to the Communist message of militant class struggle. The slogan, “Turn the imperial- ist war into a civil war against capitalism, into the proletarian rev- olution,” brought the audience to a spontaneous outburst of approval. Role of Socialists. Couldn’t Get Bukharin; Jail Bulgar Editor ” (By Red Aid Press Service) SOFIA, (By Mail).—A little while ago the editor of the “Novini,” Christo Draganoffstat was charged | under the “Law for the Protection of the State” with having stirred up class hatred by his articles. The court-martial in Sofia sentenced the accused to five years hard labor, eight years loss of all civil rights and 50,000 Leva fine. The number of the “Novini” which published and criticised the verdict and the sentence was confiscated and the new editor charged. The “No-| vini” was originally confiscated and Draganoffstat placed on trial be- cause the newspaper had published the report of Bucharin’s closing speech to the Sixth World Congress of the Communist International. The bourgeois newspapers also published this speech, but only the editor of the “Novini” was charged, as the indictment pointed out naively, “because the extradition of the actual criminal Bucharin by the Soviet Union was unlikely” (!!).
