Oi Sper SRNR ST Organization Meetings Resolutions Social Affairs Workers (Communist) Party | Shop Nuclei Help Save The Daily Worker By Jay LOVESTONE. The shop nuclei of the party have shown themselves to date to be in the front ranks of the party units in rallying to save The DAILY WORK- ER. Amongst the highest contributions given t Sake DAILY WORKER cam- paign fund are those made by the var- ious shop nucle. The proportion of shop nuclei contributing in The DAILY WORKER is greater than the proportion of the other party units; likewise the average collected by the shop nuclei members is higher than the average collected by each mem- ber in the various branches. An examination of the lists prepar- ed to date by The DAILY WORKER indicates the following achievements of various shop nuclei: New York District. Nuun 10.00 DOU peiniscennsciiiniican eae It must be remembered that at pres- ent, the average membership of a shop nucleus is much smaller than that of our branches. Considering this fact, it certainly is creditable to the shop nuclei members that 22 of their units have been able to collect over $700 of the approximately $16,000 already collected for The DAILY WORKER. But we must admit that a number of the shop nuclei have not yet done their share. A number of the shop nuclei have been inexcusably negli- gent in participating in this important effort to put The DAILY WORKER on its feet. The fact of the matter is that this campaign affords the comrades an ex- cellent opportunity to bring the party’s ideas and purposes before masses of non-Communist workers. We hereby specifically point out the shop nuclei which have so far, aac- cording to our records, failed to do their bit for The DAILY WORKER. Perhaps some of the individual mem- bers of the shop nuclei in this dree- lict list have participated in this drive and have their contributions register- paign cam Each try to put itself as a basic party unit, in the this ? e : é 3S & 3 yet directly responded, as shop ei, to The DAILY WORKER call g& Pittsburgh (No. 5) Chester, W, Va.: Shop Nucleus No. 1. Connecticut (No. 15) Shelton, Conn.: Shop Nucleus No.1 The comrades of the shop nuclei should utilize their strategic positions of having direct contact with the non- Communist workers in the factories. These comrades should without fail, redouble their efforts and show that they can deservedly be called the most active members of our party. The purpose of the publication of these facts is to stir the comrades of the shop nuclei who have already got- ten some results to intensify their ac tivities and at least redouble their results in a short while. The com- rades in the shop nuclei which have not yet put themselves on the map in the campaign to Save The DAILY WOREER should at once call meet- ings of their nuclei and make The DAILY WORKER the first order of business. Each shop nucleus should then, as a party unit, pledge itself a certain quota which it will raise in The DAILY WORKER campaign. We feel certain that the comrades organized in the existing shop nuclei should be able ot gather at least thirty-five hundred of the forty thous- and dollars that The DAILY WORK- ER must have in order to insure its existence. .
