Their con- stant cry has been that the rule robs them of their stars and kills off the attendance. I By a 41 to seven count, the minor leagues voted to toss the rule out the window. This means that a player, once sent down,‘ must re- main for the entire minor league season including playoffs. The majors, however, also must pass this amendment in order to kill the rule. ‘This, however, does not seem likely unless there is a change of heart between now and next Mon- day when the vote comes up. The minors, however, won an ! important point when they voted unanimously to set up a new “open” classification. This was interpreted as a tremendous victory for the Pacific Coast League which has | peen clamoring for higher status for years. Naturally, Coast Leaguers were jubilant over their victory for spe- cial recognition. With the ap- proval of the majors, which was expected, they expect to apply| wpight away” for the “open” rank, one step higher than Triple A.
