SATURDAYS HeERO ¥ Senator THE DAILY ALASKA EMPIRE—JUNEAU, ALASKA "Saturday's Hero' Opening Sunday af' Capifol Theatre One of the year's most important films — and one of the most en- tertaining — arrives on the screen of the Capitol Theatre tomorrow in “Saturday’s Hero,” Sidney Buch-l man’s new production for Columbia Pictures. Starring John Derek and Donna Reed, “Saturday’s Hero” is the story behind college football, a) glamor-stripping lowdown of the! body-buying system of the bigtime schools and their “kept men” of the gridiron. John Derek, the fastest-rising young star in Hollywood, has an entirely new and simply wonderful role in “Saturday’s Hero.” He plays a star high school athlete who wishes to climb above his family’s station in life and jumps at the Ichnuce to play football for an ivy- | covered college. Derek quickly discovers that he is only a “Saturday's Hero,” cheered wildly one afternoon a week because of his spectacular football-playing, but otherwise shunned by the fra- | ternity boys. Too, as a football- { playing commodity, he isn't ex- 1 pected to try too hard for the edu- ication he so desperately desires. It is a good football story. {15 Arrive on PAA Friday; 32 Depant Pan American World Airways carried 47 passengers Friday with 15 arrivals and 32 departures. From Seattle: A. D.
