Now af Capifol memorable search for a tt O'Hara in “Gone With the 1" recently had its rival in the search for a “new face” for “Fa- ther’s Little Dividend,” M-G-M's hilarious successor to “Father of the Bride.” The “new face” had to be under a year old, dark-haired, fat, rosy- cheeked and look like Spencer Tracy. He also had to be twins! Director Vincent Minnelli and ! Producer Pandro S. Berman spent six solid weeks between the hours of nine am. and five pm. inter- viewing an average of 60 babies a day for the part of Elizabeth Tay- lor's son and Tracy’s and Joan Bennett’s grandson in the new M-G-M - picture, currently showing | at the Capitol Theatre. It was a Beverly Hills baby pho- tographer who spotted the winners, twins Donald and Donna Clark. In eight babies, all under three weeks old, were needed for the picture’s opening scenes. And for these eight babies, the casting department had to sign up ten | bairs of twins! Twins are preferred stock in Hollywood’s infant depart- ment because of the limited time babies are allowed to work. Tentatively chosen as the first string for the high school team are Al Carlson, Herb Mgrtin, Elton Eng- strom Jr., Dick Forrest, John Hu- dert, Greg Ripke, Bill Orme, Ralph Treffers, George Graves, Gerry ‘Wade, and Ken Kadow Jr. Those playing on the alumni team are Denny Merritt, Jack Pasquan, Ivan Scott, Les Hogins, Bill Graves, Linn Forrest Jr. Dudley Smithberg, Ke nThibodeau, Rod Pegues and Harry Aase.
