Legion In Overriding Vefo By the Associated Press The American Legion has sent a thank-you letter to Congress for overriding President Truman’s veto of a bill which would increase pen- sions for certain disabled veterans. Legion national commander Erle Cocke, Jr., signed the letter which went to the 69 Senators and 318 Repiesentatives who voted to over- ride the veto. A Legion spokesman said a sim- ilar letter with certain variations went to those who voted otherwise. Cocke’s letter criticized the Presi- dent for what it called his “ill- founded” comments on the bill. The American Legion also accused U.S. newspapers of showing what he described as “a strangely belligerent and resentful reaction” to veterans’ benefits. Phone 996 evening 5 to 7. FROM WASHINGTON, D.
