Starring Brian DONLEVY Forrest TUCKER Ella RAINES "XING SOLOMON'S MINES" CONTINUED AS CAPITOL'S BILI What is probably the oddest “casting” problem ever to come up during filming of a motion picture occurred during the making of “King Sclomon’s Mines,” filmed on location in Africa. This picture i now at the Capitol Theatre. Directors Compton Bennett anc Andrew Marton found that the script called for a team of oxen t draw a wagon in early safari se- quences of the story. This seemec like a simple enough order until i { was discovered that regulations for- bid cattle movements as part of & plan to control sleeping sickness anc other deadly diseases. Because locations were spreac over a vast area of Equatoria Africa, with different teams having to be used in each district, the com- pany had to find not only an orig- inal team of oxen but four exac duplicates of each animal. When they were finally rounded up, only thé-mothers of the oxen could have | told the difference!
