If ul e to attend the dinner they are invited to go to the business session that will follow at 6:45, Dr. Altenburg will explain the working of the National Foundation and how it cooperated with local chapters. In event of need, there must be a local organization to leg- ally receive funds, he explained. Part of the program is to develop local orthopedic, physiotherapy, | and pediatric services and facil- | |ities which are not only for polio | but available for all patients, so that when an epidemic strikes the | facilities are available. | “When care is necessary beyond | local facilities, we take care in whole or in part the financial as- sistance recommended by the doctor | after consultation with the medical | committee of the local chapter,” Altenburg said. | “We are also anxious to get an| educational program under way to | eliminate fear and panic.in com- munities in event of an epidemic,” | he stated. Dr. Albrecht will preside at the meeting tonight. An executive com- mittee will be elected which will later choose officers.
