WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 1950 " KETCHIKAN MILL (LOSED BY STRIKE The Ketchikan Spruce Mills, which provides Ketchikan with the biggest payroll, was closed on the morning of July 18 by a strike by local 2556 of the Lumber and Saw- mill Workers union of the United " ¥ Brothers of Carpenters. Pickets pat- volled the KSM office and entrance | to the mill yards. The union membership voted 80 to 2 in favor of the strike. The union has a membership of 99. The vote followed a final report from the union’s negotiating com- mittee which had been trying tc secure an agreement with KSM under a deadline of July 18. BUSSES TO LEAVE EARLY FOR AUK BAY, TEE HARBOR Busses wiil leave the Channel Bus Lines depot on Main Stret at 5:45 am. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Auk Bay and Tee Harbor.
