Ms “MIGHTY MANHATTAN NEW YORK’S WONDER CITY” Feature at 7:45-10:15 | McGrath "THE THIRD MAN' EXCITING FILM AT CAPITOL THEATRE Packed wiun tne sort oi suspense- ful characteriation found in his earlier “Odd Man Out,” Carol Reed's new production, “The Third Man,” now at the Capitol Theatre, is an exciting milestone in screen circles. It is in this new film that Reed reaches his high-water mark as a director, while his trio of stars, Joseph Cotten, Calli, and Orson Welles, share in the honors of a tense, taut thriller set against an extraordinarily novel background. “The Third Man” was penned by Graham Greene, who with another recent film script, “The Fallen Idol,” captured honors at the Venice Film Festival for the current sea- son's best screen play. It looks as if “The Third Man“ would bring the popular British novelist-scen- arist still higher acclaim. His story is replete with powerful character studies, set against the stark, un- forgettable background of post-war Vienna, his plot twists keep one squirming in one's seat, and his denouement is completely unpre- dictable yet thoroughly logical.
