Every issue this newspaper will publish Alaskagrams in consecutive order, six each week for 12 weeks—a total of 72 Alaska- grams, Each Alaskagram is a group of scrambled letters which form mean- ingless words or a mnonsensical phrase. After an Alaskagram is unscrambled the letters form the name of a place in Alaska; how- ever, there is one superfluous letter —an extra, additional letter which is not needed to form the word. For example, the phrase “FOR A CHANGE” when it is un- scrambled equals “ANCHORAGE” plus the extra letter F. Just remember that all place- | names consist of only one word— and remember td show the extra letter. There is only one correct, answer to each Alaskagram. jof Sauvies Island Feb. |said, is that Jones had little mdney PORTLAND, Feb. 23—(®—Mys- tery still shrouds the death of Myl- es W. Jones, 59, ex-Alaskan min- ing engineer who will be buried here tomorrow. His body was found on the bank 13. There was a head bruise and his cloth- ing pockets were turned inside out. But an autopsy failed to disclose the cause death. Despite the indi- cations from the bruise and the empty pockets, County Detective Warren Weiss declined to accept a foul play theory. “This looks 99 percent like well- o) red suicide,” he said. The corcner’s office made a tentative finding of ‘“undetermined cause.” Weiss said the bruise could have Leen inflicted by a log in the Wil- lamette River and the pockets could have been turned by someone find- ing the corpse after the receding river had left it exposed, if they were nct turned out before. Weiss said many acquaintances told him Jones said he would com- mit suicide if he ever ran out of money. Present evidence, Weis although he is known to have spent scme $10,000 in the past two years. He had a $5000 paid up insurance policy, with a double indemnity clause, made out to his wife in Anchorage, Weiss sald.
