SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1949 CRIMSON BEARS BEAT OUT IMPS IN FOURTH QUARTER Moose Take Early Lead in Curtain Raiser fo Win Over Arctic The doubleheader basketball affair at the Juneau High School Gym last night saw the Mocse quintet come out on top of the Arectic five 33 to 22 in the opener while the Crimson Bears of J-Hi} Leat off a fourth quarter Imperial rally to triumph 34-30. The Moose, led by center Frankie Brown, latched on to an early first quarter lead that they Meld until the end of the game. Brown, led the scoring for the Moosemen with 14 markers. He was followed by team mate Jerry Magorty with 10. High man for the Arctic was Mocre with 8 points. The second game was a wild and wooly one that saw 47 fouls callad and three men leave the game via the foul route. The Imps took thae lead in the first quarter, but the “Bears came back to go ahead at the half 20 to 17. In the third stanza, the Scarlet and Black almost blew their Jead in fouls but still man- aged to hold onto a small lead. The fourth quarter saw the Imps niake their bid for a rally that to all at pearances had a good chance of becoming successful until the Bears, like honey, draws flies. Al- though hampered ty the loss of Itch Hansen and Bill Sperling, tr Bears held onto the ball long enough to prevent the Imps from scoring. High man for the game and the evening's play was Evan Scott with 18 points. Hansen and Ninnis ticd tor high with 8 points each to lead the High School scoring. Last night's game was the first league contest for thi Crimscen Eears.
