PAGE EIGHT ™ PIONEERS’ FUND J' XMAS DRIVE 10 | START THURSDAY The drive to raise a fund for the pioneers of the Pioneers’ Home by which they may have a little jingle for their very own in their pockets at Christmas time will start in Juneau tomorrow. Years ago, W. D. Gross started the idea of giving the pioneers a Merry Christmas money greeting and this fund has been one of the popular ones, not only throughout Alaska but several organization® in the states and the Alaska Weekly in Seattle have raiscd cash for the pioneers. This year, W. D. Gro son, Zalmain, as in recent years, will handle the fund raising in Juneau All of the Gross theatres in south- east Alaska will raise money also Two bits up to and higher money contribution, will be acceptable. It is a free will offering to the mu-: neers at the Home to enjoy one | day with money of their own in their pockets. MARTHA SOCIETY WILL HAVE ELECTION FRIDAY The only meeting of the Martha Society for December will be held Friday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 pm. with Mesdames Ray Taylor and Jose- phine Boyd as hostesses for the dessert luncheon, Mrs. Roland B. Burrows will sing several Christmas selections and the election of officers for 1950 will be held. All the members are urged to attend this meeting. Members and Masons welcome. 62-3t PNA PRESIDENT SAYS TRANSPORT TANGLE WILL SMOOTH OUT Conferences in Alaska held by Civil Aeronautics Board member Harold A. Jones should be produc- tive of better understanding of Alaska’s transportation problems, according to Arthur Woodley, Presi- dent of Pacific Northern Airlines.
