Walter W. Wood of the-Arctic Institute should prove to be a real treat. Col. Wood, here to coordinate plans for a second expedition to Seward Glacier this summer, will show a 50-minute film on the pro- ject dubbed “Snow - Cornjce” this evening at the Grade School Audi- torium at 8 o'clock. Film showing is under the spon- sorship of the Juneau Chamber of Commerce with no admission charge. A silver offering will be taken with money to go toward the drive for funds for a city ambu- lance. Col. Wood, with his 20-membered | expedition took off from Yakutat| late in June of last year, to make first plane landings on the Seward Glacier nearly 6,000 feet above sea-level. The project was entirely depen- dent on airborne operations, accord- ing to Col. Wood, with the Insti- tute’s “Norseman” equipped with| Y combination ski-wheels for opera-| ways. Objectives of the expedition were to establish a semi-permanent re- search station within the Seward | Basin, to initiate a long-range gla- ciological program, explore geologi-| cal structure, accumulate meteorolo- | gical and biological data, and to ex- | periment with expeditionary meth- ods.
