PAGE EIGHT *® BANQUET TO HONOR MRS. RUTH HUTTON THIS EVENING AT 7:30 Mrs. Ruth B. Hutton, National President of the American Legion Auxiliary, will be honored at an in- formal no-host banquet this eve- ning at 7:30 o'clock at the Salmon Creek Country Club. Highlight of the evening will be a speech by Mrs. Hutton on the progress and work of the Auxiliary. Mr. and Mrs. Hutton are due to arrive from Anchorage this af- ternoon at 1:30 o'clock via the Pacific Northern Airlines. The Juneau Auxiliary has banned a 1ishing trip for the Huttons tomor- row. Final arrangements for the fishing trip will be made this eve- ning at the bkanquet. The Juneau Auxiliary has issued an invitation to all members of the American Legion and their Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and their Auxiliary, and any interested persons to attend the banquet this evening. In the nation’s Capital, the De- partment said withdrawal of ap- proximately 193,000 acres of public in Alaska is in anticipa- tien of Congressional action to authorize farm settlement and de- velopment of Alaska. The land is on the Kenai Penin- sula and at Dunbar, Alaska Legislation to open the area to settlement was introduced in the House on the last day of Con- gress and now is before the House Fublic Lands Committe.
