Hannan is the General Manager. O. Fitzgerald left Skagway by Alas- ka Coastal June 1, to go to Juneau where he will be employed. Marvin Taylor has been employed by the White Pass and Yukon Route as ticket agent in Mr. Fitzgerald's place. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Keeney have rented the Fitzgerald residence. Mr. Keeney is a clerk in the Auditor’s Office. The Installation of Officers for the Skagway Aerie No. 25, F. O. E., was held June 1. Max Steffen was installed as Worthy President; Roy Eagle as Worthy Vice-President; M. E. Rogers as Worthy Chaplain; Tom Cooper as Worthy Conductor; Rob- ert J. Selmer as Worthy Secretary; and Gordon Beitinger as Outer Guard. New | { The Ladies Auxiliary of the Pres- byterian Church met Wednesd evening, June 2, at the home of Mrs. Walter Self. Eleven members and three guests were present, Plans were made for a dinner to be held in the Skagway Grill June 9 to entertain 20 visitors from the First Presby~ terian General Assembly traveling on the Princeton-Hall visiting the churches of Southeast Alaska. Mrs. William Dewar was appointed chair- man in charge of this dinner. Mrs, Dewar was also chosen as chairman to. arrange flowers in the Church during the month of June. Mrs. Arnold Gutfeld was appointed chairman in charge of the next Food Sale which will be held Saturday afterncon, June 12, at the Dewar Hardware Store. Mrs. E. A. Rasmu- son will be the hostess for the next meeting which will be a joint meet- ing for the months of July and Aug- ust. This meeting will be held July 30. Mrs. Gail Budd and Mrs. Art Lar- son were co-hostesses at a dessert bridge party at the Larson home Tuesday evening, June 1. There were four tables of bridge. Mrs. C. A. Anderson was winner of the first prize; Mrs. P. 1. Dahl the second: Mrs. J. Keller the cut prize; Mrs. W. Stevenson the consolation prize; and Mrs M. V. Rafferty the traveling prize. Miss Jane Williams of Wrangell and Miss Lols Muffly of Kodiak, students of the Univi ty of Alas- ka, spent several days in Skagway. They flew to Whitehorse, Y. T. and came to Skagway on the train. They left for Juneau by Alaska Coastal Wednesday, June 2. From there they will go to Wrangell to spend the summer. Mrs. C. A. Anderson gave a party Wednesday - afternoon, June 2, to celebrate the third birthday of her son Micheal. The guests were Mrs. Edwin Dell and daughter Dorothy Anne; Mrs. Joseph Sheleby and daughters Leada and Dolores; Mrs. Gail Budd and daughters Sharon and Patty; Mrs. A. E. Larson, daugh- ter Janice, and sons Timmy and Russell; Mrs. Ed Hestnes and daugh- ters Mary Anne and Nancy Jean; Jimmy and Kenny Boynton. The Nail Gathering Contest ended Thursday, June 3, and the prizes were awarded at the City Hall that afternoon. Winner of the first prize of $8 was Betty Maki who turned in 330 pounds of old nails she had col- lected; Roger Colton won the sec- ond prize of $5 with 176 pounds and Terry Tierney the third prize with 174 pounds. Two dollars each was awarded to Hallie Stevenson, Phil- ip Eagle, Joseph Judson, Arnold Gut- feld, Terry Eagle, Billy Lundy ‘Wal- Jace Logan, Mary Ellen Flynn, Joan Pearcy, Jerry Van Zanten, Gary Cox, Ethel May Nelson, Lewis Logan, Sharon McGuane, Micheal Bullivan, David Edwards, Ruth Dodge and Larry.
