MONDAY, APRIL 26, 1948 COMMUNICATION To The Editor: When are the people of Juneau going to wake up? How much longer must we stand for 20 longshoremen trying to run this town? I am for labor when it right but not when it is wrong. Labor trouble closed the Juneau mine. Are we going to let is them. close up the mill, and inci-| dently clcse up Juneau along with it? These longshoremen don't give a whoop about the other fel- low as they are working right ong and they are bragging about it too. What kind of Americans are they, and are they all citi- zens? Juneau 89 company They ecan shut down and no fcoling They did it 0s Bay and they can do it her uce Mill is a | boat big | What can we do? Close up (h(" town like Ketchikan did? Make | everyone pay the penalty, not just| a few. Refuse to take nn_\'!hmp: that is unloaded by the longshore- men and don’t let them load any-| thing. Form a picket line and not | let the men work. Why should| they work when they are keeping others from work? Let's have a| town meeting so that we can all| express oursel | Let's let these trcublé-makers go broke and go without a few| meals and their wine and then| they’ll yelp. They ought to be| happy that they can work on the docks but why can’t they| stay there? Let’s 4 show these| folks that June: a whole has had enough ot ir foolishness. | I don't believe that the banks care to take over the whole town,| d that's just what shutting the| mill down permanently will mean,| THE DAILY Al KINY — JUNEAU | Alaska Broadcasting Co. ‘ C.
