ANDRESEN DIES AT ANCHORAGE ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Moritz Al- fred Andersen, 49, former City Coun- ilman for eight continuous years nd prominent local businessman, ied at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at the amily home on Fifth Avenue and E Street. Mr. Andersen had been suffer- ing from a heart ailment for the past nine months and had been Out side twice for treatment. He lived in Anchorage continu- ally since 1921 with the exception of two years from 1925-27 when he managed the hardware department of the O'Neill Co. store in Cordova In addition to his part in civic affairs, Mr. Andersen also was prom- inent locally in the Republican Party. Since the time he came to An- | cherage, Mr. Andersen had been as- sociated with various business enter- § prizes here including Brown and ¥ Hawkins.,, Berger Distributing Co., Kimball's store. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. Andersen spent most of his youth ind was educated in Seattle. He came to the Territory first in 1918 when he worked for the American Pacific Whaling Co., at Akutan in he Aleutian Islands. Mr. Andersen took active part in several fraternal organizations, par- ticularly the Masonic Lodge. In 1933 he was Worshipful Master of An- chorage Lodge No. 221, F and AM, and belonged to Anchorage Chapter No. 3, R and AM, Knights Templars, nd the Shrine Club. H> was also a memter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and was a volunteer fireman.
