PARTNERSHIP OF DYKES, HAAS IO AGAIN BE RENEWED HOLLYWOOD, Jan 29.—(M—One of baseball’s old associatior the on-field, coff-field partnership of Jimmy Dykes and George (Mule) Haas, will be renewed this spring. Haas, star outfielder for the Phil- adelphia Athletics when Dykes was the A's crack third baseman back in 1928-32, has been mailed a con- tract to coach for Dykes' Hollywood club of the Pacific Coast League. Virtual agreement for Haas' ser- vices was reachsd at the minor league meeting at Miami, Fla., in December—a move obviously recom- mended by Dykes--according to busi ness Mansger Oscar Reichow. . — SKAGWAY CAGERS ~ WILL ARRIVE HERE ON WEDNESDAY The Skagway Jumur High School Basketball team will arrive in Ju- neau next Wednesday —morning aboard the Estebeth for a three day tournament with the local High School cagers. The first game of the series will start Thursday night at 7:30 o'clock in the high school gym. The remaining games will be played the following nights at the same time. The coach for the Skagway team is a well known former Juneauite and former coach of the Juneau High School team, Barney Ander- ton. Tt is expected that Juneau will turn out in full force for the S.E. Alaska High School elimination tournament. Hank Harmon, Principal of the High School, asks that all clubs and organizations planning any enter- tainment for the Skagway team to please call him in regardyto their plans, Hockey Games (BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS) The Portland Eagles are going to make news in the Pacific Coast Ice Hockey League when—and a sizeable if—they manage to defeat the Ironmen of Seattle The Ironmen, perched atop the Northern Division, have beaten the Eagles in ten straight games. Last night's close score, 5 to 4, provided small comfort for Portland, which saw Ircnman Roy McBride, leading division scorer, bolster his record with three goals, assisted on each by Gordon Kerr. THe Southern Division's top team, the Los Angeles Monarchs, regist- ered a win, too, turning back last place Oakland at Los Angeles 4-0. Hank D'Amore scored three times while goalis Bev Bentley came through with his third shutout of the s=ason. Bill Richardson of San Francisco and Len Wharton of San Diego traded blows twice in the heat of a game at San Francisco which the hometown Shamrocks won, 5-3.
