Coast Guard Cutter |Wachusc-u returned to the Juneau [} port at 10 o'clock last night, after having been on a rescue mission to Hippa Island since a week ago last Monday. The Wachusett went directly from Cape Spencer to the scene of the wrecked army transport, the Clarksdale Victory, which broke in two on a small island atout 140 miles south of Ketchikan. Commander E. V. Carlson said that after the survivos of the ltragcdy and the bodies which had been recoversd were conveyed to Ketchikan, the Wachusett left on Thursday afternoon, and has been servicing light stations on the re- turn trip to Juneau. The cutter will take on fuel, pro- visions, and stores for light sta- tions to the North over the weekend, and will leave on Monday for Point Retreat, Eldred Rock, Sen- tinel Island and Cape Spencer. Comdr. Carlson said the ship may be back in Juneau by next Thurs- day or Friday.
