A high pressure cell is located in the eastern Pacific about 500 miles west of the California-Oregon border. A strong onshore flow of warm moist air exists over the Pacific Ocean from the State of Washington northward. Skies in this area are cloudy and light rain is falling at all stations as far northward as Juneau. From Juneau north- ward mixed rain and snow is falling. Temperatures in the area have been slowly rising during the past 24 hours and this process is expected to continue. Generally clear skies and below freezing temperatures were | reperted over the Plains States and central Canada. The lowest tem- | perature reported at 4:30 this morning was 15 degrees below zero at Shangnak, which lies the interior of Alaska approximately 150 miles east of Kotzebue. Skies over the interior of Alaska are mostly cloudy | with light snow being reported by most stations at some time during the past 24 hours.
