AND DISAPPEARS The River has changed its course according to the U. S. Forest Service. A. W. Black- erby, Division Supervisor, an- nounced today that the river is no longer visible in its former course from the Mendenhall Glacier to Mendenhall Lake. He said that it now runs under the Glacier in- stead of in front. Blackerby and Larry Zach, Dis- trict Ranger, attribute the change of the river's course to the re- cent heavy rains and high waters. They said that persons may now | walk right up to the face of the Glacier without difficulty now that the river's former bed is com- pletely dry. The portion affected represented a onz mile stretch of the 1iy The new course is a half mile shorter.
