Capt. Garnier has been on a six weeks' tour of Alaska jand the Yukon Territory gathering idata for a thesis he will write at Georgetown University in Washing- ton, D. C., beginning this Septem- ber. One aspect of his study will be the spread of the Catholic faith |among all races in Alaska. In 1939, Capt. ‘Garnier was on a pilgrimage in Palestine when war broke out. He was mobilized in Palestine and served in Iraq and Turkey. In 1940 he was sent to France to finish his course as an officer at Versailles and then went into the campaign in France. He was demobilized in September, 1940 and immediately started his prep- aration for the priesthood. When the American Army came into France, he helped them by giv- ing aid and information. Capt. Gar- nier, who has been traveling in Canada and the United States for a vear, has given many lectures and radio addresses. His subjzcts includ- ed the youth movements in France, lihe Catholic Church, and the lit- erary works of Antoine St. Exupery, Charles de Foucald, Rene Descartes, and Guy de Lavigaude. Capt. Garnier said that he was | very thankful to have this oppor- {tunity to study in America and that he is anxious to return to France and to change the French people’s iidea about America. He said that he will stress the American respect for religion, the home, and liberty. pital during his visit here, leave on Friday for Ketchikan, hurry | Sears-Roe- | He is staying at St. Ann’s Hos- ' He will'' FOR SALE TWO BEDROOM modern un{urm- ished house. 534 E.
