( J., for many years a missionary on i the Yukon, has been appointed as- ‘sismnt pastor in charge of Douglas {and chavlain of St. Ann’s Hospital. | The Rev. James U. Conwell, S. Marsha Malutin Becomes Bride Of J. Gardia, Jr. Miss Marsha Malutin and Mr. John Garcia; Jr. were united in marriage at the Catholic Church of the Nativitv on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Leo Sweeney officiated at the ceremony and he bestowed a nuptial blessing which was given outside of | mass by special privilege. The bride is from Kodiak and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Garcia of this city. The bride chose a formal wedding dress of white organdy for her wed- ding. Her long veil was attached to a coronet. She carried a prayer book that was decorated with white car- nations and white streamers. Her maid-of-honor, Miss Cath- erine Stevens, was also dressed in | white. Her dresy was'made with a | small matching bolero. She had a contrasting pink bandeau in her | hair. Her corsage was of whlbe irises. Miss Anita Brown and Miss MTa gie Olson were bridesmaids. Miss lBrovm.waa gowned in a pink with | matohing pink flowers in her hair. Miss Olson wore a blue' gown with 'a small matching blue hat. The | bridesmiaids had similar corsages of white | carnations. Little Barbara Kito was the solemn train bearer for the hride and she wore a pink and wiiite flowered dress with roses {in"ner Rair. Mr. Eugene Durkee was best man jand Pedro Batril and Catalino Bar- ‘rfl. nephews of the bridegroom, were jushers. ‘Miss Malutin was given in marriage by Mr. Nicholas Pelayo. Edward Carillo was altar boy for the ceremony. | Preceding the ceremony Miss Juanita Diaz sang two appropriate songs. | A reception and dance was held last evening in the Catholic Parish Hall in honor of the young couple. Art Dennis and His orchestra played. The bride is a graduate of Wran- gell Institute at Wrangell and has been i Juneau about two months. Mr. Garcla i8 a graduate of the Junesu High School, class of 41, |and served three years in the Army. He is niow employed by the Alaska Native Service.
