FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 1947 MOOSE WIN; BEAT LEGION, 470 3 SCORE SCORE By I Mcose Legion The Moose started the second hali w:th a bang as they beat the Legionnaires by a score of 4 to 3 last night. They looked like a ball club with the additional players they have turning out for them. Hansen, who was at second base, is a sweet ball player and Del Hanks, local Boy Scout Commissioner, is first sacker, amd good. The club hoys brought in a run in the first inning as Floberg beat out a bunt, stole second and took third on the shortstop’s error of Forsythe’s grounder. The Legion s thought that Forsythe was out as it was a close play, and while they were arguing, Floberg stole home. The Legion came back with a run in their half of the first when E. Nielsen walked, stole second and third and came in on grounder to the pitcher. Legion Scores The Legion tcok the lead in the secend inning as they drove across two runs, while thejclub men got «a goose egg for their efforts. Cash- | en struck out, but took first as the . catcher dropped the ball and took! second as the first baseman lost the catcher's throw. Flint and J.! Nielsen struck out and E Nielsen doubled, scoring Cashen. McDaniels doubled bringing in Nielsen withi the second run, putting the Lezgicn ahead by two runs. The Moosemen came back wilh, another run in the third when the same thing happened that gave ithem a run in the first. Metcali was hit by a pitched ball and ad- vanced to third on the following two outs. He scored as the Legion protested that Hanks did not get to Yirst in time, stealinz home while the boys were huddled at nm brow- ‘ beating the ump. The last scoring of the game was ‘in‘the fifth! when the Moose drove »in two more runs. Metcalf reached first on the third baseman's error, stole second as Notar struck out and came in on Forsythe's double.
