Preliminary arrangements will be made for matches with teams rep- resenting Juneau, Anchorage and Kodiak. The contest is to begin this week and continue over a six weeks' period. A number of prizes are to be awarded at the conclusion of the matches, both for winning teams and individual marksmanship. All members-of-the Guards are eligible to compete and a good turn out of contestants is desired. DOUGLAS CELEBRATED Many Douglas people were out New Year's Eve celebrating the coming of a New Year. Many at- tended the dance given in the Eagle’s Hall given by the Eagles Club. Others took in the night spots or had home parties, while others observed the midnight event quietly at their homes. FIRST ’46 BABY 1 YEAR OLD Master William F. Walters, first baby born on the Channel area in 1946 became one big year of age yesterday. The lad’s mother, Mrs. C. E. Walters, had close friends in for the observance date, for a luncheen birthday party. As the first baby in 1946, the Walters boy started earning his own being the recipient of a $25 Bond prize from a Juneau business firm. Dad Walters is an Alaska Coastal Pilot. I MASS FRIDAY !
