M. to 5:30 P. M. 10:30 A. M., 2:30 P. M., 4 P. M. We received a shipment of meat by Alaska Airlines plane Thursday evening, October 17. This meat was purchased at the present high market price. This beef cost 42c per pound at Seattle for the whole carcass. The airplane freight rate is 20 cents per pound from Seattle to Juneau Airport. The cost of hauling from the air port in Juneau to our store is Y cent per pound. We purchased this meat for the fishermen, logging camps, restaurants and the boat trade that want meat regardless of price. We are also offering this meat to our customers who wish to pay these prices. WE ARE NOT PROFITEERING. In fact we are losing money as we are selling this beef to you on a 179 gross profit. Wecannot pay our overhead expenses for 17%, as wages and operating expenses are high. The undersigned beef test shows you our cost and also how we determine our selling price. It also shows you that we are not profiteering. Study it closely. It is put in here for your benefit. We are not urging the housewives to purchase meat at these high prices. We simply bought this meat and will have it on hand for those who want it. Every cut of meat in our display case is plainly marked.
