The franchise is contained in Ordinance No. 306, which was passed by the City Council on June 7th. Copies of this Ordinance have been posted for the past six weeks or more in order to a¢quaint the inhabitants of Juneau with its pro- visions. The old franchise expired last March, and in order to be assured of a continued water supply and io protect the rights of the city and its residents, a new franchise was necessary. The City Council passed the franchise after having given full consideration to every detail; and in our judgment the city’s rights have been fully protected. This franchise which is submitted for your approval fomorrow, contains provisions. that are much more advantageous o the city than those of the old franchise.
